Quick Summary:
The 3G headset is our externally mounted unit where only the speakers and microphone are inside the helmet, while the main module is on the side of the helmet.  (See our 2G headset for an internally mounted main module kit).  The 2G and 3G headsets have the same electronics so they sound identical.  The main difference is in how they mount, the cables and the features.   The 3G kit has a 2-section upper and lower cable and can use three different kinds of microphones: surface mic for full/flip helmets, inside tab mount boom or outside RCA mounted boom.  All boom mics come with the windscreen.   In the image above, the yellow helmet  has  a surface mic roughly in the place you would install it, and the blue helmet  shows an RCA mounted external boom mic.

The Details:
After 18 months of development, EdSets is proud to offer our first externally mounted headset with patented features that have raised the bar in the headset industry!  For the first time, you can choose a headset that mounts externally without clamps, screws and tools, and which stays in place firmly with no adjustments.   Universal in design, the newly patented Sonic Series 3G sets offer features for all helmet styles.  As an industry first, the 3G headsets include a 3.5mm stereo In/Out jack that can be used many ways including listening through earbuds, driving an external amplifier or audio recorder, piggy-backing a passenger on your audio stream, or even driving your 3G headset from an iPOD or GPS (audio only, not for cell phone integration) when you're on a bike with no factory audio system.

And that's not all.  The new 3G sets, as well as our 2G Sonic Series headsets, all sport the most durable upper and lower cables on the planet.  Made with advanced Kevlar core technology, the conductors are practically invulnerable to metal fatigue and will outlast any cable ever made.

We always ship the new 3G sets with our legendary 'Thump Pump' speakers and soft pouch mounts for hi-fi comfort.  You also get the same studio quality microphones with the 3G sets.  We also offer a 6-pin lower cable for use with the J&M CB2003 and some BMW systems.  In addition, we will soon have a Zumo 550 cable that allows use of the 3G sets the same way our 2G sets are used with the Zumo and many similar GPS, FRS radios and CB's.

Finally, we also supply each 3G owner with soft rubber weather plugs for those times you may not want to be plugged in.  Each kit comes complete with the options you select and are optimized for Goldwing, Voyager, and Venture factory intercom systems, and will work with many more systems.
